About DataVic

DataVic – Victoria’s open data platform

DataVic is the place to discover and access Victorian Government open data.

DataVic is owned by the State Government of Victoria, and is administered by the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The DataVic Access Policy was endorsed by the Victorian Government in August 2012 for implementation throughout the Victorian public service.

Through this policy, Victorian government datasets will be:

  • available to the public
  • easy to find
  • easy to use

We've had a refresh

You may notice things looking a little different around here – a little fresher, a little simpler, and (we think) a little better.

  • We’ve improved our search experience, one that lets you refine your results with clickable filters, so you can zero in on the data you want.
  • We've moved to Single Digital Presence (SDP). SDP is the Victorian Government's new digital platform that make it easier for citizens to find, understand and use Victorian Government information. SDP is an open source, flexible technical solution that government agencies can use to reduce the cost and effort of digital development.
  • We've also made significant upgrades and improvements under the hood.
