V/Line GTFS-R data available for the first time

The Department of Transport and Planning has released V/Line GTFS-R data to all open data users for the first time to help passengers make decisions about their journeys, using real-time information, no matter their app of choice.

The following two data feeds were released on 7 October 2025:

• GTFS-R Trip Updates - V/Line (Regional Train)
• GTFS-R Vehicle positions - V/Line (Regional Train)

These data feeds can be accessed as part of the GTFS Realtime datasets.

Please note:

• The data feeds are for V/Line train trips only
• The data feeds do not include information about V/Line coaches or disruptions
• These data feeds follow the GTFS Realtime global standards and specifications
• All data users need to create an account in the Transport Victoria Open Data Portal and use their API key to access these APIs, if they haven’t already
