Metadata from the City of Greater Geelong Data Exchange is now harvested daily. We'll be continuing our council integrations over the coming months.

The City of Greater Geelong is an open data champion in Victoria. The City provides many interesting datasets, including near real-time data from sensors distributed throughout their area.

It includes:

  • Parking Sensors – Occupancy
  • Temperature and Humidity for Flying Fox Bats monitoring
  • Live Weather data from local stations
  • Urban Forest data – 165,000 trees across parks, reserves and streets

The City of Greater Geelong recognise that open data is integral to achieving their Smart City aspirations. The Smart City Strategic Framework continues to guide approaches which includes Strategic Pillar 4: A City that Harnesses the Value of Data. Through further development, promotion and utilisation of open data the region is better equipped to identify challenges, provide accurate predictions and find the best solutions to emerging issues.
