Train Station Entries 2008-09 to 2011-12

The metropolitan station patronage model utilises all available transaction rate survey data to estimate validation rates by daytype and time of day on normal weekdays (weekdays which are neither public nor school holidays), Saturdays and Sundays for each station entrance from 2004-05 onwards. Changes in enforcement practices and the deployment of ticketing system equipment are reflected as far as they can be detected in the data. Observed or inferred validation rates are applied to the number of validations at each station entrance to estimate actual station entries. These estimates are the best available at the time of publication and they are based on the data available from ticketing systems and field surveys measuring passengers propensity to generate electronic ticket transactions at different locations and times of day over time. The estimates are not warranted to a specific level of accuracy and may be subject to change through improvements in data collection and estimation methodologies. The estimates are of the number of average people entering each station on specific day types or types of day. The passengers entering cannot be ascribed to specific train services
