Port Phillip Bay Recreational Artificial Fishing Reefs

This point layer represents the approximate locations of the centre of the 6 artificial fishing reefs located in Port Phillip Bay installed to provide recreational fishing opportunities. Three boat based reefs are located on the Eastern side of Port Phillip Bay: Yakka Reef off Frankston, Tedesco Reef off Seaford and Rec Reef off Aspendale were installed in 2009. Three shore based reefs in a water depth of between 3-4.5 metres, approximately 40 metres seaward of Frankston Pier, and 40 to 70 metres seaward of Portarlington Pier's rock-wall section and the end of Altona Pier were installed in 2012.

Geospatial Accuracy All attributes have been checked by Fisheries Research Branch and Transport Information and Analysis branch, and are complete Locations for the boat based reefs were determined using DGPS with accuracy +/- 3m. The position of the shore based reefs was estimated based on a description on the info sheet available online, the accuracty is likely to be +/- 20m.
